Psychology
At V.L.A.D. Outreach CIC, our psychological services are designed to support individuals who may benefit from a deeper understanding of their thoughts, emotions, behaviours and experiences. Our psychologists can work with you to explore difficulties you may be experiencing, understand what may be contributing to them, and develop practical strategies to help you move forward.
Psychological support can be helpful for a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, life changes and other challenges affecting your mental wellbeing. Sessions provide a confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening for you and work collaboratively with a qualified psychologist to better understand your needs.

Psychological Assessment and Understanding
Psychologists can help you develop a clearer understanding of your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and experiences. Where appropriate, sessions may involve exploring patterns that are affecting your wellbeing, considering how different aspects of your life may be connected, and identifying factors that may be contributing to your current difficulties.
-
Psychological Intervention
Depending on your individual needs, a psychologist may use different evidence-based psychological approaches and therapeutic techniques to help you manage difficulties and make meaningful changes. This may include working on coping strategies, emotional regulation, behaviours, thought patterns, relationships or the impact of past experiences.

A Different Perspective from Counselling
While counselling and psychological support can overlap, they are not necessarily the same experience. Counselling often provides a space to explore your feelings, experiences and current difficulties, while psychological services may place greater emphasis on understanding psychological processes, identifying patterns and using psychological theory and evidence-based interventions to address specific difficulties. Your psychologist will work with you to understand what you need and determine how psychological support may be most helpful.
It is also important to understand that psychologists are not psychiatrists. Psychologists are trained in the assessment and treatment of psychological and emotional difficulties, but they are not medical doctors and do not prescribe medication. Where appropriate, a psychologist may recommend that you speak with your GP or another medical professional if your needs would benefit from medical assessment or treatment.
Tailored Support for Your Needs
We understand that everyone’s situation is different, which is why we will discuss your individual needs with you to collaboratively identify the best approach for your healing and growth. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, trauma, or simply feeling lost, we’ll work together to choose the right therapeutic pathway for you.
Accessible, Timely, and Flexible Support
At V.L.A.D. Outreach CIC, we believe that no one should be denied support because of financial barriers. That’s why our counselling services are either free or donation-based, making it easier for you to access the help you need without worrying about cost.
We also understand the importance of timely support, which is why we have no long waiting lists. You won’t have to wait for weeks or months to get the help you need - our aim is for you to begin your journey towards healing as quickly as possible.
How We Deliver Our Services
Sessions are run as either online sessions, walk-and-talk or face-to-face (at therapy rooms, risk-assessed home visits or at neutral, safe spaces). Everything we provide is free or donation-based, ensuring that cost will never be a barrier to accessing support. The first 6 sessions are free or donation-based (whatever best suits you), before you will be offered an optional paid extension.
The optional paid extension gives you a "review" meeting between you, your therapist/peer-mentor and our Clinical Lead, to create bespoke care plan. The care plan is there to guide your journey over another block of 6 more sessions. The "review" and extra "block" of 6 more sessions can be secured by making a £50 donation. This option is explained in full during your first block of 6. It can also be optionally extended for as long as would be beneficial to you.
Also, we are firm believers of working in a multi-agency/multi-disciplinary way. So, other professionals/services involved in your care are more than welcome to be present at your "review" meeting, if you would like this.
We are an entirely non-profit Community Interest Company, so all of the payments for new "blocks" or general donations made go directly to the CIC to be used only for things like the renting of therapy rooms, marketing purposes and other expenses required to sustain the service and keep us running.
